What Employers Told Us at the Workforce Roundtable
The June roundtable surfaced practical concerns around hiring, transportation, training, and retention, along with several ideas members want to keep moving.
At the chamber’s June Workforce Roundtable Breakfast, employers, education partners, and nonprofit leaders compared notes on what is getting harder for local businesses and where collaboration could help. Transportation and schedule flexibility remain major concerns, especially for smaller employers trying to compete for dependable talent.
Participants also talked through internship readiness, supervisor training, and the importance of helping young workers understand what career opportunities already exist close to home. The Workforce and Education Committee will carry several of these ideas into the second half of the year, with a focus on practical next steps rather than one-time conversations.
